Adcash Review: Can You Make Cash There? (2018 Update)

Mobidea Academy’s in-depth Adcash Analysis!

This Adcash review aims to give you an overview of the platform as an ad network and traffic source. This is an analysis of its structure, traffic and specifications.

By the end of this article, you’ll get great insights of the interface as well as the technical setup, such as event tracking and reports.

Finally, I’ll also give you some info about my own personal experience, regarding issues, qualities and my own rating of Adcash.

Adcash is an ad network focused on mainstream traffic. At the beginning, it was a manage-only platform. This basically means every user had a personal account manager who helped in pretty much everything regarding campaign set up, segments, optimizations, etc. You name it, they’d be there for you.

However, that’s changed. Now, Adcash has got a self-managed platform. In fact, users set everything by themselves, just like you’d usually do on other networks.

Its managed platform is still very interesting, though. For high spenders, it offers features like performance models, such as CPA, and even allows you to create landing pages and banners for free.

The best thing about this? In case you wanna make a change on your campaign, you don’t need to wait for the Account Manager to do it for you.

The platform has three main types of traffic: desktop, mobile web, and in-app. For desktop, you can create a web campaign, an user interest campaign, or an in-stream video campaign.

For Mobile web, you can obviously create a mobile web, and also a user interest and an in-stream video campaign. For in-app, an in-app campaign, and the other two types: user interest, and video campaign.

A web (desktop), a mobile web, and an in-app campaign are the most basic for each of the respective types of traffic.

This is the part where I’d like to refer to the user interest type of campaign, which can be quite interesting.

First of all: what’s that all about? What the heck does “user interest” mean?

Simple: user interest targeting will display your ads and offers for users that have shown interest exactly in what your offer has to… well, offer.

For example, if you’re promoting a game offer, whenever the users visit a site, regardless of the site’s theme being gaming or not, your ads will be showed to them. This is different from contextual targeting, which targets the site’s category, in which case your ads would be displayed on gaming-related websites only.

How does this work?

Well, Adcash’s engine tracks the user’s preferences while they browse the web, mostly through cookies. When the data is stored, and after a certain threshold, the user will be labelled as having interest in a specific topic.

This tool can help you create campaigns that are super detailed, mega concrete and highly targeted! This – as I’m sure a player of your wealth and status already knows – is gonna lead to higher margins, as they decrease the spending in unnecessary and uninterested users.

What do higher margins mean?

It means you’re gonna make it rain like a master who spends money faster!

In-stream video campaigns are the ones where your ads will be displayed along with the main video the user will be watching. They can be displayed before, during, or after the actual video.

This campaign type is for advertisers who wanna promote video content.

Campaign Creation

Creating a campaign on Adcash is easier than convincing a fat drunk to buy you a shot at the local tavern!

It’s easy and cool since the platform has a pretty good interface. Plus: it’s all very intuitive, even if you happen to be more used to the targeting aspect rather than the tracking options.

Anyway, the setup options are quite good, so let’s get to it quickly!

Product URL and Event Tracking

First things first: you’ll need to have your “product URL” ready. This is the URL of your offer or your tracking code from your tracker. Below this field, you can see the list of available macros Adcash allows you to use.

Therefore, when configuring your URL, you should include all these macros. Moreover, you should pay that sweetly special attention to the clickID.

Regarding event tracking: you should definitely configure that so you’re able to track your campaign’s performance.

Here, you can use three tracking methods, namely global postback URL (S2S), Campaign HTML pixel, and Hybrid HTML pixel.

To create a tracking code, you should go to “EVENT TRACKING” on the menu and select “CREATE PIXEL.” Then, choose your preferred settings.

For CPA offers, I’d say the most common would be Global Postback URL (S2S) as “Tracking method” and “Event type” set as “Action.”

When you click “create event” your tracking code will be ready and displayed. In the parameter “advertiser”, your advertiser ID on Adcash should be displayed.

As for the“cid” parameter, you should replace it with the external ID token for your tracker or affiliate network platform. (I.e. for Voluum, it should be cid={externalid}).

What should your postback URL look like on Voluum?

It’s also worth mentioning that Adcash doesn’t have a pre-built template on Voluum.

Meaning what?

That you’ll need to add the tokens manually.

Remaining Setup

After that, the setup is pretty straightforward. In the first set of parameters, you should take a good look at the “Event tracking” option.

This is where you should pick “Selected events” and tick the box regarding the event you chose to track when you generated your event tracking.

Regarding ad formats, you’ll be able to see that the network has many display formats available, as well as the “exclusive” format Site-under Mobile (Pop-Under), which is quite used.

Regarding targeting: you’ll have the common features available.

The cool thing?

The parameters are usually divided into “display all”, “display only”, or “don’t display”, which basically divides your options into a complete wide target, a whitelist or a blacklist, which I think it’s pretty smart and useful.

Now pay attention to the advanced targeting option. This is where you can click and get a dropdown menu with other options, such as Operating Systems, Browsers, Zones, Connection Type, and Internet Service Providers (ISP).

To better target your campaign, you should really use them!

advanced targeting

What about ISPs?

This is one thing that can be problematic for you on this platform. Targeting by ISP is not as straightforward as your usual carrier targeting. Indeed, you can see several options for the carrier you want, which can make it hard for you to know exactly which are the correct ones to target to get the traffic you need.

In that case, if you can’t find it in a simple Google research, you should contact Adcash’s support and they’ll help you out with that!

Payout and Budget?

This is where you’ll set your bid, capping, and budget options. You can choose between the two most common cost models: CPM and CPC.

Below this, you’ll see Adcash will suggest a “best bid”, based on your targeting selection.

I advise you to start with this one since the platform works with a fixed bidding system where you don’t know your position.

However, this bid probably won’t deliver a whole lotta traffic. In that case, you can just increase it until you get a reasonable amount of traffic to gather decent data.

After you set everything up in this page, the next part will be to add your creatives, in case you’re working with any of the display formats.

Campaign Tracking (Reports)

Adcash offers you some decent stats. It’s not a platform where you’ll have perfectly granular data, but, then again, you can’t optimize your campaigns so granularly, so it wouldn’t make much sense.

You can check your reports by picking these three options:

  • Daily spending, where you just see a summary of how much you spent along with the main indicators, such as impressions, conversions, eCPM, and some others
  • Detailed statistics, where you can see data by category, format, zone, and some other parameters
  • Request reports, where you can ask the network for reports to be delivered at your email. They can be summarized or detailed; for all your campaigns, or just for specific ones

For the detailed statistics, it’s worth emphasizing the zone parameter. That’s where you’ll be able to check all the targeted zones and understand which ones are converting, which are spending a lot without converting, and whatever else you wanna check to help you optimize your campaigns.

While checking zones, you can already click the icon that appears by the side of each zone. This will include them on a whitelist or blacklist, instantly applying those updates to the current campaign.

This is super nice!

Traffic Talks

Adcash is a pretty good and trustworthy ad network!

It’s also got one of the best interfaces out there.

There are some low points worth mentioning, though:

  • It doesn’t have a lot of traffic for every GEO. I’m not even talking about super obscure GEOs. Trust me: I’ve tested some pretty common and big GEOs for which they didn’t have much mobile traffic. It really depends a lot on the ISP. For instance, it may fail to have any traffic whatsoever for Brazil Oi, but have for Brazil TIM
  • You really have to know which ISP is the correct one to target to get traffic. The support can help you with that
  • Adcash doesn’t allow you to explore some pretty standard mainstream formats, such as 320×50 or 320×480. That’s weird.
  • It’s got a high minimum deposit to start with: $1000! Ouch! That is, if you want the managed platform, for the self managed platform the deposit is $100.

More flaws?

Adcash is a bit picky with landing pages. It can easily reject campaigns due to some minor issue. You can also contact the support. If necessary, send a screenshot of the landing page. This tends to work like a charm!

The very good points?

The support! Even though it’s a self-managed platform, the support at Adcash rocks. Every email I sent was answered in a reasonable amount of time and the problem was always quickly solved.
