Tell us About Yourself<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I\u2019m 34 years old this year, which is incredible, right?<\/p>\n<p>I mean:<\/p><div class=\"mobid-in-content-15-p\" style=\"margin-top: 26px;margin-bottom: 26px;\" id=\"mobid-2622660478\"><div class=\"mobid-adlabel\">Advertisement<\/div><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/recommends\/semrush-v2\/\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"a2t-link\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"semrushtrialseo\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/09\/semrushtrialseo.gif\" alt=\"\"  class=\"no-lazyload\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"  style=\"display: inline-block;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>People usually think that I\u2019m like 23, 24.<\/p>\n<p>When they find out I\u2019m 34 they\u2019re like:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo way!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>So that\u2019s one of the big things.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve been an affiliate marketer for ten years now.<\/p>\n<p>Before being an affiliate marketer, I was doing rave and EDM parties for four years.<\/p>\n<p>I have a pretty interesting set of skills to build on.<\/p>\n<p>Before that, I worked in the Yellow Pages in Canada, selling advertising.<\/p>\n<p>I have experience with ads, in the old fashioned way.<\/p>\n<p>In the Yellow Pages, we used to do split testing, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.optimizely.com\/ab-testing\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A\/B testing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The methods that we used were that we would put different ads into the category in Yellow Pages and change the phone number in the ads and then the customers would have different phone lines in their office and they would measure &#8211; their secretaries &#8211; which phone line got how many calls and then, next year, when it was time to renew the ad, we would do more ads based on the winning ad set.<\/p>\n<p>So this was old school.<\/p>\n<p>I learned split testing a long time ago, like almost 15\/16 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>I was super young when I was at Yellow Pages.<\/p>\n<p>I started at age 17 and I was there until almost 20.<\/p>\n<p>Two and a half years, something like that.<\/p>\n<p>When I was doing rave parties, I learned a lot about logistics and handling lots of staff because my biggest party had 7.000 people and our number of staff was 400.<\/p>\n<p>We had a crazy, crazy organizational system in place, not only for the staff but for all the supplies and all the different materials and DJs&#8230;everything.<\/p>\n<p>You have to think&#8230;when you do a big event, you have to think about the napkins all the way to the speakers.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s everything from A to Z.<\/p>\n<p>An insane amount of stuff.<\/p>\n<p>The reason why this was &#8211; I believe &#8211; awesome in my history and my career is because I learned early on that you need to delegate.<\/p>\n<p>One of the secrets to my success and being pretty good in this affiliate marketing world was the fact that &#8211; if I wanted to be successful &#8211; I needed to approach it like a business.<\/p>\n<p>I started with a designer and an assistant right away because I was the guy that was always coming up with the vision and the idea and then I would give it to my staff to make it real.<\/p>\n<p>I would spend my time where it mattered the most:<\/p>\n<p>Networking with other affiliates, learning new skills.<\/p>\n<p>Because affiliate marketing changes so fast, you need to always brush up on skills, learning new stuff.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s how it all came to be.<\/p>\n<p>And today we\u2019re doing awesome:<\/p>\n<p>We have over 7 employees in my companies and we have media buyers who are assigned to different traffic sources.<\/p>\n<p>If we find winners &#8211; because we\u2019re continuously testing &#8211; we just give it to our teams and it blows up really fast.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t have to worry about&#8230;okay I need to do this, I just say to one of my guys:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou do this, you do this, you just get it up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And tomorrow it\u2019s up!<\/p>\n<p>Really fast!<\/p>\n<p>In a long shell, that\u2019s it!<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2-verticals-and-strategies-to-succeed-in-affiliate-marketing\"><\/span>2. Verticals and Strategies to Succeed in Affiliate Marketing<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I would probably choose a White Hat Vertical because one of the biggest problems is losing accounts, getting banned and getting your business killed overnight&#8230;so definitely a White Hat vertical.<\/p>\n<p>There are many White Hat verticals:<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/affiliate-marketing\/lead-generation-marketing-campaigns\/\">lead generation<\/a> for finance, mortgage.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s also Ecommerce, Shopify being the most popular right now but there\u2019s also BigCommerce, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wpzoom.com\/plugins\/what-is-woocommerce\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WooCommerce<\/a>&#8230;there\u2019s many different platforms.<\/p>\n<p>And these are pretty safe and they\u2019re blowing up like crazy so I\u2019d definitely invest in that.<\/p>\n<p>Another thing is before I go into anything, like let\u2019s say I start a Shopify store, I would think outside the box on what makes me different; how can I stand out from the competition.<\/p>\n<p>Because a lot of guys that are new they start &#8211; for example &#8211; a Shopify store, what happens is:<\/p>\n<p>They just copy someone else; they think that they can throw up some ads and make money.<\/p><div class=\"mobid-in-content-15-p_2-2\" style=\"margin-top: 26px;margin-bottom: 26px;\" id=\"mobid-3410012208\"><div class=\"mobid-adlabel\">Advertisement<\/div><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/recommends\/semrush-v1\/\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" class=\"a2t-link\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"backlinks\"><img src=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/PD-970x250-Discover-backlinks-faster-than-ever-1.png\" alt=\"\"  srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/PD-970x250-Discover-backlinks-faster-than-ever-1.png 970w, https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/PD-970x250-Discover-backlinks-faster-than-ever-1-250x52.png 250w, https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/PD-970x250-Discover-backlinks-faster-than-ever-1-700x144.png 700w, https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/PD-970x250-Discover-backlinks-faster-than-ever-1-768x158.png 768w, https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/PD-970x250-Discover-backlinks-faster-than-ever-1-120x25.png 120w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 970px) 100vw, 970px\" class=\"no-lazyload\" width=\"970\" height=\"200\"  style=\"display: inline-block;\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>And the problem is that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebalance.com\/let-s-ask-the-basic-question-what-is-ecommerce-1141599\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ecommerce<\/a> is slowly maturing.<\/p>\n<p>People are getting used to seeing ads about the same stuff over and over again.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not gonna sell.<\/p>\n<p>So if you\u2019re a newbie and you do what everybody else does you\u2019re gonna lose your money fast and you\u2019ll have to go back to working for someone 9 to 5, right?<\/p>\n<p>I definitely recommend thinking about how to stand out!<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3-what-is-affiliate-marketing\"><\/span>3. What is Affiliate Marketing?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>To someone that never heard about affiliate marketing, it\u2019s extremely difficult to describe.<\/p>\n<p>When you start talking about it and you start saying:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh you became very successful, like a millionaire overnight!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They say:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh please! Don\u2019t start with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/affiliate-marketing-scams\">scam<\/a>! I heard enough about <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Multi-level_marketing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MLM<\/a> and all this crap!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And then I tell them:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, no, no! This is not like that at all. This is pure marketing. What you\u2019re doing is arbitrage. You\u2019re paying X for ads and you\u2019re getting paid Y for a sale and the in-between is your profit and it\u2019s up to your skill on how big you can make the gap between the X and the Y so that you get the maximum profit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When I start talking about it, I usually lose them at web design.<\/p>\n<p>Most people understand computers, website&#8230;done!<\/p>\n<p>So that\u2019s how it goes!<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4-favorite-thing-about-affiliate-marketing\"><\/span>4. I\u2019ll break my neck!\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5-least-favorite-thing-about-affiliate-marketing\"><\/span>5. Least Favorite Thing About Affiliate Marketing<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s that it&#8217;s extremely dynamic.<\/p>\n<p>That means that you could be making 10, 20, 30.000 dollars in profit in one day and then you get banned or a server crashes or the offer dies, and you\u2019re broke.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re making zero.<\/p>\n<p>The guy at the public toilets who\u2019s cleaning the toilets is making more money than you at that time.<\/p>\n<p>That feeling sucks.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, when you have a really bad streak &#8211; because everybody does&#8230;I just wanna say that &#8211; a lot of the times &#8211; when you go to affiliate conferences, a lot of guys say they\u2019re always killing it and these guys you need to watch out for.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s total BS.<\/p>\n<p>And all the veteran guys, all the guys who have been doing this for many years say that there\u2019s always downtimes and it\u2019s normal.<\/p>\n<p>If they say there are no downtimes and that they\u2019re always killing it, they\u2019re bullshit!<\/p>\n<p>They say:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh, I\u2019m making this many thousand or that many thousand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And &#8211; in reality &#8211; they\u2019re struggling to make 20 bucks.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6-%e2%80%9caffiliate-marketing-is-a-dog-eat-dog-world%e2%80%9d-why-do-you-say-that\"><\/span>6. \u201cAffiliate Marketing is A Dog Eat Dog World.\u201d Why Do You Say That?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I say that because there\u2019s a lot of people in affiliate marketing that are 100% selfish.<\/p>\n<p>They walk around flashing their watches and all this stuff and then they go home to a shitty apartment but they wanna show the world that they are loaded.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/person-with-hoodie.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5765\" src=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/person-with-hoodie.jpg\" alt=\"person with hoodie\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s this fake impression, this perception&#8230;and it\u2019s not true.<\/p>\n<p>All the material stuff that you have doesn\u2019t make you rich.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s who you are.<\/p>\n<p>And the problem with these guys &#8211; and why I say it\u2019s a dog eat dog world &#8211; is because these guys do not share anything.<\/p>\n<p>They don\u2019t want you to do good &#8211; they want themselves to do good.<\/p>\n<p>They are so selfish and I hate these guys with passion.<\/p>\n<p>These guys are so bad that they don\u2019t wanna help anybody.<\/p>\n<p>And I believe that there\u2019s karma:<\/p>\n<p>You help others and you\u2019ll see that goodness returned two times.<\/p>\n<p>I totally believe in that thing.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m the proof that it works.<\/p>\n<p>I started writing my blog because why the hell shouldn\u2019t I help people?<\/p>\n<p>What do I lose?<\/p>\n<p>The internet marketing world is so big.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s so much traffic, right?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/what-is-mobile-affiliate-marketing\">Mobile<\/a> is growing&#8230;like insane so there\u2019s always more and more!<\/p>\n<p>What does it matter if two guys who\u2019ve read my blog make 2.000$ each a day?<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m so happy that I\u2019ve helped them.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why it\u2019s a dog eat dog world, because these guys ruin it.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"7-why-is-it-essential-to-read-evolve-and-stay-on-top-of-the-game\"><\/span>7. Why is it Essential to Read, Evolve, and Stay on Top of the Game?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Because &#8211; most of the times &#8211; no one is gonna come and say:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is how you run this! Go!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You can\u2019t just go to a conference and be like:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh my God! How do I make money?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>No one\u2019s gonna give it to you on a silver platter because most of the guys keep it to themselves.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not saying that everybody is this way because there are some guys who are really nice.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m in a mastermind with a few of them where we exchange actual stuff:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou can take this, run it and make money instantly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But that\u2019s few and far in between.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s very rare.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why it\u2019s super duper important to stay on top of new technologies, keep reading forums like STM and just stay on top of bloggers, and listen to what they\u2019re saying and where the industry is going, attend conferences like this Affiliate World conference and hear what the buzz is.<\/p>\n<p>Because when you go to these and you just talk to people you\u2019ll overhear and you keep your eyes open, you can see what\u2019s hot right now and just follow the direction and get your piece of the pie.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"8-affiliate-marketing-trends\"><\/span>8. Affiliate Marketing Trends<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>2017?<\/p>\n<p>Ecommerce definitely.<\/p>\n<p>And Lead Generation.<\/p>\n<p>These two things.<\/p>\n<p>I believe these areas are gonna continue to grow because people all over the world are getting more comfortable on the internet and they\u2019re getting more comfortable using their card online and shopping.<\/p>\n<p>They like the convenience, you know?<\/p>\n<p>They love the ability to select a bunch of stuff without having to leave their home and wait in line and all that stuff.<\/p>\n<p>They just press \u201corder\u201d and have it shipped in a couple of days to their house.<\/p>\n<p>Ecommerce is gonna be big and I believe Lead Generation, especially for B2B&#8230;to generate leads for different businesses is gonna continue to grow because companies &#8211; small and large &#8211; need customers, right?<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s up to us internet marketers to get them those customers and we can charge them for our knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>We can charge them for <a href=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/affiliate-marketing\/cpa-mobile-ecosystem\/\">CPA<\/a> or whatever and make a ton of money.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-10701\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/money-700x394.jpg\" alt=\"money\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/money-700x394.jpg 700w, https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/money-250x141.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/money-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/money.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/money-760x428.jpg 760w, https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/money-623x351.jpg 623w, https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/money-316x177.jpg 316w, https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/money-150x84.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/money-120x68.jpg 120w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>We can charge them 20 bucks and get the lead for 10 and then they\u2019ll make 10 bucks on everything and they\u2019ll be super happy.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"9-future-opportunities-in-affiliate-marketing\"><\/span>9. Future Opportunities in Affiliate Marketing<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>It\u2019s hard to say but definitely when it comes to Ecommerce don\u2019t try and do everything.<\/p>\n<p>I recommend you use zoom-in, go <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/profitable-niches\">niche<\/a> specific, because you\u2019re gonna be able to see success faster than if you try and do everything.<\/p>\n<p>One of the reasons why I\u2019m successful is because I stick to one or two things and we do them super well.<\/p>\n<p>We stick to AdWords and Google and we don\u2019t jump around.<\/p>\n<p>Everyone always says:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhy don\u2019t you do Pops, why don\u2019t you do <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/native-advertising\">Native<\/a>, why don\u2019t you do this, why don\u2019t you do that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And it\u2019s because you cannot be good at everything.<\/p>\n<p>I really suck at sports but I\u2019m really good at helping people and I\u2019m very good at explaining stuff, and I\u2019m very good at tech stuff because I\u2019m a natural nerd and I love that stuff.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s like my hobby so I\u2019m never gonna be good at sports.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m not gonna try and be good at it.<\/p>\n<p>Same thing for Ecommerce:<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t try to do everything and then you\u2019ll be successful.<\/p>\n<p>Persistence, you know?<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"10-how-do-you-see-mobidea\"><\/span>10. How Do You See Mobidea?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>You guys can definitely help newbies coming into the market by providing them a great place to get started; by offering them different offers in various verticals and different countries.<\/p>\n<p>You also have people who know what they\u2019re talking about among your staff.<\/p>\n<p>When someone new comes in, you can make offer recommendations.<\/p>\n<p>You can tell them:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHey, you\u2019re running this offer but maybe your should try this one because it\u2019s doing well. It\u2019s worth the split test because you might be making more money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You can really provide that guiding hand and that helping hand that someone needs when they enter because they cannot talk to their brothers, sisters, parents, friends, you know?<\/p>\n<p>Because &#8211; as I said earlier &#8211; most people when they ask me what I do and I start talking about it from the beginning, they lose me at web design.<\/p>\n<p>Most people don\u2019t have a clue of what <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/web-hosting-services\">web hosting<\/a> is&#8230;like for a website you need web hosting and usually they lose you at web design because they don\u2019t even know web hosting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat the heck is that?\u201d<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"11-what-do-you-think-of-mobideas-new-tracker-capabilities\"><\/span>11. What Do You Think of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/affiliates\/mobidea-tracker-capabilities\/\">Mobidea\u2019s New Tracker Capabilities<\/a>?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Okay here\u2019s the thing:<\/p>\n<p>I believe that the more stuff you can give to affiliates for free the better.<\/p>\n<p>The reason for that is that usually when people wanna start affiliate marketing they don\u2019t have a lot of money saved up.<\/p>\n<p>They can\u2019t afford a 1000$ tracker.<\/p>\n<p>They can\u2019t afford Amazon, Rackspace, or whatever crazy hosting servers.<\/p>\n<p>They need to run a tight ship so they can spend 80% of their saved money on actual media buying traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Because if you don\u2019t buy traffic you can have the best servers and the best landers, it\u2019s not gonna do nothing.<\/p>\n<p>If you guys offer people a free tracker, you right away save them 100, 200, or 500 bucks a month.<\/p>\n<p>And they can spend that money on something else; maybe to hire a part-time designer to make them some good <a href=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/media-buying\/banner-design-ads\/\">banners<\/a> or maybe spend it on a server or a membership to STM&#8230;so that they can stay on top and learn new stuff.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"12-future-plans\"><\/span>12. Future Plans<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>We\u2019re actually launching something awesome for Ecommerce right now.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s the exact same way than when I started my company <a href=\"http:\/\/bannerslanders.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Banners and Landers<\/a> which provides banner ads for 10 bucks a piece, animated or static and landing pages starting at 40$ for affiliates&#8230;so basically what I\u2019m saying is when I started Banners and Landers I saw that there was a need.<\/p>\n<p>There was no company that understood what affiliate marketing is and that could right away provide a solution.<\/p>\n<p>Everybody when they start in affiliate marketing, they go:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOh yeah, I can go on Upwork, on Freelancer, hire freelancers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But if you go that way first you have to screen them, right?<\/p>\n<p>The second thing is you have to explain to them what you\u2019re doing and why you need it done this way.<\/p>\n<p>And a lot of the times &#8211; when I used to do that &#8211; a long time ago, when Banners and Landers didn\u2019t exist, what happened was freelancers like:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know why you need to make a banner look like that. It\u2019s ugly!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And I\u2019m like:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust do it how I say!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And they were like:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo! It has to look good! I\u2019m a designer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And all this ego came into play.<\/p>\n<p>I was like:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFuck that! It\u2019s such a waste of time. They\u2019re wasting my time and money.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Let me create a company that affiliates can come and be like:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI need a banner like this, this, this. Do it for me.
