Operating Systems<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>Traffic Factory has got some devices and operating systems available for you to select.<\/p>\n<p>You may find options for Android, iPhone, and tablets.<\/p>\n<p>Even so, not all devices\/OS are available.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re included in an option called \u201cOther Smartphones\u201d which you may decide to target.<\/p>\n<p>There are also special campaigns to target the older phones which already have an internet connection.<\/p>\n<p>These are called \u201cfeature phones campaigns.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"carrier-targeting\"><\/span>Carrier Targeting<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>There\u2019s no carrier targeting!<\/p>\n<p>You <em>can\u2019t select a specific carrier<\/em> or even just select <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/3g-traffic-vs-wifi-traffic\">3G or Wi-Fi<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This has a huge impact on your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/media-buying-strategy-beginners\">media buying strategy<\/a> as you\u2019ll always have huge amounts of traffic, due to the Wi-Fi traffic.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"categories\"><\/span>Categories<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>You may find a <em>number of Categories<\/em> which you may target or uncheck.<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"bid\"><\/span>Bid<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p>On Traffic Factory, the bids are set in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/cpc-vs-cpm\">CPC<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This means that you pay for each Unique click (i.e. for each different IP value.)<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s no SmartBid option available, which means you\u2019ve gotta be careful with your strategy.<\/p>\n<p>The bid method in this ad network has been recently changed.<\/p>\n<p>The bid positions are split in different boxes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/bid_boxes_traffic_factory.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-5595\" src=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/bid_boxes_traffic_factory.jpg\" alt=\"bid boxes traffic factory\" width=\"1014\" height=\"649\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Each box represents the page view per unique user.<\/p>\n<p>This means the first box allows you to bid for the first page visualization of a unique user.<\/p>\n<p>The second box allows you to bid for the second visualization and so on and so forth.<\/p>\n<p>The tenth box <em>controls more than 10 or more visualizations of a unique user.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Therefore, you can increase or decrease bids depending on your performance in each box.<\/p>\n<p>It works like a capping control of your traffic where you can bid for each position.<\/p>\n<p>As usual, your bid has to be higher than the minimum in order to receive traffic.<\/p>\n<p>The bids are <strong>updated each Tuesday<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The bids which are below the minimum targets will cease to receive traffic.<\/p>\n<p>The button below allows you to avoid that.<\/p>\n<p>You can leave it ON in case you want the system to increase your bid and match the new one.<\/p>\n<p>Later on, after you\u2019ve run your campaign for a while, you can check a column called <em><strong>\u201cYesterday&#8217;s average position\u201c<\/strong> <\/em>on the campaign\u2019s menu targets.<\/p>\n<p>This column gives you information about the average click position.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s suppose you have this column equal to 3.<\/p>\n<p>It means that &#8211; Factory?<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the upload of banners, Traffic Factory is different from the common ad networks.<\/p>\n<p>Normally, you upload the banners you want to use when creating the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Here, in order to upload a banner, you\u2019ve gotta go to the \u201cbanners\u201d tab and click \u201cupload banner.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll be asked to insert the Smartlink for this banner in the URL field which &#8211; at this point &#8211; is optional.<\/p>\n<p>Since you\u2019re now in step number 2, <em>you can also select the banner files.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>You can pick several banners by clicking on the \u201cAdd upload\u201d field.<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019re done selecting all of the banners you wanted to upload, you can submit the banners for approval.<\/p>\n<p>How Factory are huge.<\/p>\n<p>This means the banners have an even more important role on the performance and future results.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CTR is the most important metric<\/strong> you have to define the quality of a banner because it gives you &#8211; in the form of a percentage &#8211; the proportion of clicks to the number of impressions for each banner.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s another parameter which is important in a banner:<\/p>\n<p><strong>CR (Conversion Rate)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The CTR &#8211; on Traffic Factory &#8211; is normally an indicator for the CR (the higher the number of clicks, the more conversions you have.)<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s only one particular scenario in which it can be misleading.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s suppose you have a banner which is very specific for an offer.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;ll only generate a few clicks and visits, because the banner is just too specific.<\/p>\n<p>Even so, imagine the person who clicks and checks the offer.<\/p>\n<p>Who are these guys?<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019re probably people who were <em>already expecting this too-specific offer.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This means the number of conversions for each click will be high!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Never forget:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You should always verify the CR by cross-matching the costs and revenue info, i.e. margin, for each banner.<\/p>\n<p>A tracking platform such as and compare the different performances.<\/p>\n<p>In case you use fewer than 3, you can\u2019t compare performances for different banners.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a campaign which provides you with a large amount of traffic, you don\u2019t have to worry about the quantity of data.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, you can use up to 5 banners.<\/p>\n<p>What if you have a campaign with low traffic?<\/p>\n<p>Then you should use 3 banners.<\/p>\n<p>Your traffic will only be divided by 3 and you\u2019ll have <strong>enough have data to compare performances.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The banners you choose for the campaign should be directed to the users\/public which you\u2019re targeting.<\/p>\n<p>The user\u2019s reaction to a banner depends on the country, culture, language, age, sex and other parameters.<\/p>\n<p>A first step will be to understand the public target you\u2019re trying to reach.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s suppose you want to target a specific region of a country where the public target speaks a particular language.<\/p>\n<p>If you choose to use banners with text, you should write <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/banner-ad-copy-different-languages\">banner ad copy<\/a>\u00a0in the language of the region.<\/p>\n<p>As you already know, Traffic Factory only has two websites.<\/p>\n<p>You may try to take advantage of this and create banners which attempt to class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Traffic Factory doesn\u2019t give a wide range of info.<\/p>\n<p>You can get info per banner.<\/p>\n<p>For each banner, <strong>you can check impressions, clicks and CTR.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/banner_metrics_traffic_factory.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter already seen, in this ad network the banners are a core piece of the puzzle.<\/p>\n<p>You may look at the performance of banners by looking at the <em>CTR, the margin you\u2019re getting, and the stats.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The first thing to do is to select a period which allows for a good amount of data.<\/p>\n<p>Then, you get the revenues by banner for that period, recurring to either Mobidea or any other Affiliate Network.<\/p>\n<p>You check stats by banner, select the same period and compute the margin by calculating the difference between costs and revenues.<\/p>\n<p>The tracking platform automatically computes it for you.<\/p>\n<p>Look at <strong>CTR<\/strong> and margin and compare the different performances for each.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A high CR (Conversion Rate)<\/strong> will
