the very beginning.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Indeed, in order for you to set up a campaign that has the potential to be profitable, and that also can bring a bulk of useful data for you to analyze, <strong>you need to choose wisely.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In my opinion, planning carefully and thoroughly before launching a campaign is as important as the process of optimization that follows.<\/p>\n<p>One of those crucial decisions is the segment selection i.e. Country + Operator + Operating System.<\/p>\n<p>What geo shall I choose? Are there any differences among them?<\/p>\n<p>Will I earn the same?<\/p>\n<p>Do they perform differently?<\/p>\n<p>That is why today&#8217;s article focuses on segment selection and <strong>the definition of the aspects that might influence this decision.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s take a closer look.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"rpm-matters\"><\/span><strong>RPM Matters<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Many affiliates focus only on the payouts. with a low budget, fighting for the first position and getting fast results, or rather if you will most likely behave like a marathon runner \u2013 making large investments, focusing on data collection and analysis as well as <strong>working on the campaign optimization to make sure it\u2019s always profitable.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" \u2013 Android \u2013 Iusacell has a RPM index equal to 74.04 which means that you may get around 74 euros per 1000 visits on Mobidea.<\/p>\n<p>Comparing to Mexico \u2013 Android \u2013 Wifi, where you can get only around 4 euros per 1000 visits, the first option seems far more profitable and interesting to choose.<\/p>\n<p>Still, never forget about the competition factor (no competition \u2013&gt; lower costs, first position, more conversions).<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, even though a segment can have a lower RPM, you can be profitable.<\/p>\n<p>Check the image below:<\/p>\n<p><a Media Buyer will make more money in Brazil:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>the cost of traffic, the most important variable. To have the first position in a campaign in France you may need to put a bid four times higher than in Brazil<\/li>\n<li>Volumes. Since you have more volumes, you\u2019ll have a smaller Margin Rate but the effective margin will be higher<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Of the two following cases, which one do you prefer?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Case 1<\/strong> -&gt; Costs: 10\u20ac &#8211; Earnings: 20\u20ac &#8211; Margin Rate: 100% &#8211; Effective Margin: 10\u20ac<\/p>\n<p><strong>Case 2<\/strong> -&gt; Costs: 50\u20ac &#8211; Earnings: 75\u20ac &#8211; Margin Rate: 50% &#8211;
