But it\u2019s much more than that.<\/p>\n<p>By using this shortener, publishers can earn money according to the users who visit this specific link.<\/p>\n<p>The catch?<\/p>\n<p>When users open the link, they see the advertisement for at least 5 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Only then can they skip the ad and go to the shortened URL.<\/p>\n<p>This ad format is called Interstitial Advertising.<\/p>\n<p>This means that all the traffic of the interstitial format is coming from the users who click the links shortened by Adf.ly.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s the example of a mobidea.com shortened URL: http:\/\/adf.ly\/1mAtFJ.<\/p>\n<p>When you open this link, you see an offer.<\/p>\n<p>Then, on the top of the page, you\u2019ll see the following bar:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Pic1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4753\" src=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Pic1.jpg\" alt=\"adf.ly review bar\" width=\"1924\" height=\"95\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Apart from the Interstitial format, Adf.ly has Pop and Banner traffic.<\/p>\n<p>However, it\u2019s not that clear where this traffic is coming from, since the main concept of Adf.ly is the transitional page which has the interstitial format.<\/p>\n<p>According to the feedback from the support, some publishers who use their shortener prefer to display banners and pop ads instead of the interstitial.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"campaign-creation-and-setup\"><\/span><strong>Campaign Creation and Setup<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>First of all, we must say that Adf.ly doesn\u2019t present you an amazing world of possibilities in terms of campaign targeting.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, there\u2019s no special tracking postback or anything readymade on this ad network.<\/p>\n<p>On the top menu, you can see the \u201cCreate Campaign\u201d tab, which is why we\u2019re here!<\/p>\n<p>The main ad formats in Adf.ly are Interstitial, Banner and Pops Ads.<\/p>\n<p>The first step of the campaign creation is selecting the ad format you wish to run.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>interstitial<\/strong> is an ad that\u2019ll show your offer page to the end user for a period of 5 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>On Adf.ly, <strong>Banner<\/strong> traffic is available in the 728 x 90 banner size or in smaller sizes, even though the platform warns there\u2019s \u201cLimited Availability of traffic.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In case you\u2019re looking for more interesting campaigns, your best options will probably be the Interstitial and Pop.<\/p>\n<p>The final traffic type is the Pop, which is displayed on the websites of Adf.ly\u2019s publishers.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"next-step\"><\/span><strong>Next Step<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>After selecting the ad format you\u2019ll see that the minimum prices per GEO will change, depending on the ad format.<\/p>\n<p>Select the GEO and amount of traffic you wanna buy &#8211; the list is organized by the price of 1000 visits to your offer link.<\/p>\n<p>Plus: as you may see, you don\u2019t have all WW GEOs available, which means you may not be able to run that crazy campaign you\u2019ve got on that unusual GEO.<\/p>\n<p>You may have noticed some red warnings.<\/p>\n<p>These are comments about the traffic availability and price.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t forget about the baseline to purchase traffic &#8211; 5$ &#8211; which can be combined in different GEOs.<\/p>\n<p>Since the platform is not that clear in terms of campaign creation, we\u2019ll now go through the steps.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Previous Website<\/strong> refers to a previous campaign you\u2019ve set up and that you can aggregate together on the same tab.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Website Name<\/strong> will be the campaign\u2019s name, so make sure you\u2019ve identified it clearly.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Website URL<\/strong> is your offer URL, which we\u2019ll analyze later.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of targeting, the remaining possibilities are very limited.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, you can only select Desktop or Mobile traffic &#8211; no distinction between types of device or brands.<\/p>\n<p>You can select two Operating Systems (iOS or Android) and select different carriers (all carriers will provide <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/3g-traffic-vs-wifi-traffic\">3G + Wi-Fi traffic<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The other options available and which are common to all types of ad formats are the <strong>Max daily budget<\/strong> function to include traffic from other <strong>Partner Networks<\/strong>, and the <strong>Auto Topup<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019ve noticed that, by removing the <strong>Partner Network<\/strong> option on the banner and pop campaigns, the amount of traffic was disappointing (even though we were in the first position.)<\/p>\n<p>In campaigns in which you use the traffic from these partner networks, you\u2019ve got the ability to track the <strong>Partner ID<\/strong> using the token ?adfly_partner=xxxxx , where xxxxx will be the id of the partner ad network.<\/p>\n<p>Even though you can track it, we didn\u2019t spot any place where you can choose the Partner Network. Regardless of whether you just created a campaign or already have it running, you can always cancel it and all the remaining funds will be transferred to your wallet.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Pic11.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4761\" src=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Pic11.jpg\" alt=\"adf.ly review cancel campaign configuration\" width=\"406\" height=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Note 2:<\/strong> <em>After creating a campaign you should always check the offer preview in the configurations.The Interstitial format consists of an iFrame code and the landing page of some offers may not support this format.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Pic12.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4762\" src=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/Pic12.jpg\" alt=\"adf.ly review offer preview\" width=\"713\" height=\"114\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>What about tracking\/reporting?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The campaign\u2019s created.<\/p>\n<p>Now, let\u2019s jump into the data tracking and reporting.<\/p>\n<p>In terms of tracking, the platform is very limited, as you can grasp by taking a look at the image below.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the platform only shows you the amount of traffic you ordered and the volume you\u2019ve received.<\/p>\n<p>Apart from this, you can click on the Stats button (next to the wrench) and check stats for the campaign on the top graph.<\/p>\n<p>Again, it will only show you daily views and costs.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/adf.ly_review_graph.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4807\" src=\"https:\/\/academy.mobidea.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/adf.ly_review_graph.jpg\" alt=\"adf.ly review graph\" width=\"1019\" height=\"436\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This means you\u2019re left with either reporting on your tracker or Mobidea as the two main sources of info.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"optimization\"><\/span><strong>Optimization<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The next and essential step is to optimize your campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The optimization options of Adf.ly leave much to be desired.<\/p>\n<p>To be honest, you can do almost nothing at all!<\/p>\n<p>What you can do is include\/exclude the following parameters:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Device Targeting: Desktop\/Mobile<\/li>\n<li>Mobile Targeting: Android\/iOS<\/li>\n<li>Mobile Carrier Targeting<\/li>\n<li>Day of the week targeting<\/li>\n<li>Partner networks (there\u2019s only the option to either include or exclude all networks)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>That\u2019s it.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s basically no optimization available on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll just launch a campaign and see whether or not it\u2019s become profitable.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"out-of-curiosity\"><\/span><strong>Out of Curiosity<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Since we were interested in that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/banner-design-ads\/\">Banner Ad format<\/a>, we decided to give it a shot.<\/p>\n<p>We launched a banner campaign &#8211;
