it.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not someone who lives from the promotion of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/cpa-offers\/\">CPA offers<\/a> and this post wasn\u2019t created for those of you who are already CPA experts.<\/p>\n<p>What I\u2019ll share in this article are things that I&#8217;ve learned by trial and error.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, while I made tremendous progress since I&#8217;ve started promoting CPA offers, I&#8217;m still far from being an expert.<\/p>\n<p>Before getting in on the action, let me help you understand what PPV is.<\/p>\n<p>Knowing more details about this traffic type and how it&#8217;s generated will help you improve your approach and strategy.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"what-is-ppv-traffic\"><\/span>What is PPV Traffic?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>PPV is the abbreviation of \u201cPay-Per-View.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll also find many references to it as CPV, which stands for \u201cCost-Per-View.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The pay-per-view model charges you every time someone sees your offer.<\/p><div class=\"mobid-in-content-15-p\" style=\"margin-top: 26px;margin-bottom: 26px;\" id=\"mobid-1475696898\"><div class=\"mobid-adlabel\">Advertisement<\/div><a data-no-instant=\"1\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/recommends\/semrush-v2\/\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" your advertised URL &#8211; with PPV, the user will view your site directly after they access a specific site or type a particular keyword in the navigation bar of their web browser.<\/p>\n<p>The most common types of PPV traffic are:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Domain redirect<\/li>\n<li>Pop (up or under)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>When you pay for domain redirects, the visitors will be taken straight to your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/affiliate-landing-pages\/\">landing page<\/a> once they access a particular domain name that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/media-buying-campaign-targeting\/\">matches your targeting<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of domain redirect traffic comes from typos.<\/p>\n<p>For instance:<\/p>\n<p>When someone types \u201chealthyfod.com\u201d in their web browser instead of \u201chealthyfood.com\u201d<\/p>\n<p>When you pay for a popup or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/popunder-ad\/\">popunder<\/a>, your landing page appears when someone types a specific keyword in the search bar of their web browser, when they visit a particular domain or a page that includes a chosen keyword in the URL.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cdnwp.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/example-keyword.jpg\"><img sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The difference between a popup and a popunder is that popups show up over the content of a page, while popunders open on a new browser window under the content seen by the user.<\/p>\n<p>Popunders usually remain unnoticed until a user closes the main browser window.<\/p>\n<p>Most PPV traffic is generated with the help of an adware software installed on people\u2019s computers with their consent.<\/p>\n<p>For example, there are many free softwares, games, or toolbars which are powered by ads.<\/p>\n<p>That should normally be specified in the license agreement displayed when you install the software.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, there are also many people who just click the \u201caccept terms\u201d button without reading the Terms of Service.<\/p>\n<p>Even though having an adware installed on your computer can be somewhat disturbing, these are usually harmless, unlike trojans or keyloggers intended to steal user&#8217;s passwords or personal information.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"differences-between-ppv-and-ppc\"><\/span>Differences Between PPV and PPC<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The main advantage of PPV traffic over PPC is its low price.<\/p>\n<p>The price per click can easily go over a dollar with the search traffic of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/google-adwords-overview\/\">Google AdWords<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>However, with PPV, you can get extremely cheap visitors.<\/p>\n<p>The most obvious disadvantage of PPV is that the bulk of this traffic type is of a much lower quality than the traffic received from Google AdWords.<\/p>\n<p>Never forget:<\/p>\n<p>A view from a PPV campaign is forced and interrupts the user&#8217;s activity, while a click from the search of Google AdWords is a voluntary action:<\/p>\n<p>The user clicks the ad for a reason.<\/p>\n<p><a higher chance of performing an action when they happen to voluntarily click an ad than when an ad pops up on their screen.<\/p>\n<p>Now you can see why the views from PPV are much cheaper than the clicks from PPC.<\/p>\n<p>Which makes you think:<\/p>\n<p>How are so many people getting a huge ROI by promoting CPA offers with PPV traffic?<\/p>\n<p>There&#8217;s no magic secret when it comes to PPV.<\/p>\n<p>I would say that the only way to become successful with PPV is TESTING, TESTING, and TESTING SOME MORE.<\/p>\n<p>Google AdWords has a rigorous system for making sure they only provide high-quality traffic to their search advertisers.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, they only accept <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/advertisers-vs-publishers\/\">publishers<\/a> who have websites that meet their quality guidelines for their Display Ads platform.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, most PPV networks will just send you low-quality traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, a big part of it might be very low-quality traffic or even traffic from bots.<\/p>\n<p>Of course the traffic coming from bots is entirely useless and you&#8217;ll never see a conversion from such a traffic type.<\/p>\n<p><a use a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/affiliate-tracking-platforms\/\">tracking software<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With PPV, though, those chances are much slimmer.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, if you want to see any results from PPV and want to be able to track and scale up your campaigns, it\u2019s mandatory that you use a tracking software.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"what-is-a-tracking-software\"><\/span>What is a Tracking Software?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A tracking software is an application that you install on your web server or a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/web-hosting-services\/\">hosted service<\/a> that helps you determine the quality of your traffic.<\/p>\n<p>When you track your traffic, you can see where the conversions are coming from, the location of the visitors, you can see what people are clicking on a particular landing page, you can block bots, determine which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/traffic-sources-affiliate-marketing\/\">traffic source<\/a> ID is working and which isn\u2019t, and so on.<\/p>\n<p>Some tracking softwares are cloud-hosted and require a monthly subscription such as <a class=\"thirstylink\" title=\"Voluum Homepage\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/recommends\/voluum-homepage\/\" target=\"_blank\" promote it with PPV traffic.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s very important to check this aspect.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, you may get your account disabled, or your conversions canceled.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s assume you want to promote a mobile offer from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/sign-up\/?utm_source=academy&amp;utm_medium=20&amp;utm_campaign=cpa-ppv\">Mobidea<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After you log into your Mobidea account, enter the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/affiliates.mobidea.com\/apps\/list\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Offers<\/a>\u201d menu.<\/p>\n<p>You should see a list of all the offers available.<\/p>\n<p>In order to reduce the number of offers you see and to make your offer selection easier, you need to apply some filters to the displayed results.<\/p>\n<p>To do that, look at the right side of the page.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cdnwp.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/mobidea-tracker-tiers.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"581\" height=\"781\" \u201cPPV,\u201d but Mobidea lets advertisers choose a pretty specific PPV traffic method.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to advertise your offer with popups or popunders, you should enable the \u201cToolbar traffic\u201d, or the \u201cPopup or Popunder\u201d filter.<\/p>\n<p>If you choose to use the domain redirects, you should check the \u201cAutomatic redirection of users without any user interaction (e.g. click)\u201d search filter.<\/p>\n<p>That will reduce the number of available offers to only the ones that allow you to use that particular traffic type.<\/p>\n<p>To reduce the number of offers even more, you can apply more filters on the right sidebar, such as category, country, etc.<\/p>\n<p>To check the exact allowed traffic methods for each offer, go to the offer\u2019s page and click traffic type.<\/p>\n<p>Once you find an offer that accepts PPV and think it\u2019s a good choice, there is also some info you should take into account.<\/p>\n<p>For instance:<\/p>\n<p>The allowed countries, whether or not you\u2019re allowed to use custom creatives (landing pages, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/banner-design-ads\/\">banners<\/a>, etc.), and whether the offer has received any conversions in the last 7 days (you can see that under the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/mobidea-opportunities-stats\/\">Opportunities tab on Mobidea<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Since Mobidea is a CPA network focused on mobile offers, you also have to make sure that the offers meet a few mobile-specific requirements, such as \u201cOS\u201d (operating system), \u201cWifi\u201d (some offers won\u2019t allow traffic from the Wifi networks), and \u201cOperators\u201d (some offers may require specific operators.)<\/p>\n<p>If you want to be entirely sure whether or not an offer accepts your chosen traffic type, you can ask your affiliate manager.<\/p>\n<p>Once you know what you\u2019re allowed to do, you can apply for that offer and receive your unique affiliate link.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t look at the highest paying offers only.<\/p>\n<p>Usually, the offers that pay the most require a more complex action from the user such as a purchase, credit card information input, filling a form with many input fields, etc.<\/p>\n<p>With PPV traffic, I had the best results with offers that pay for a simple action.<\/p>\n<p>For example:<\/p>\n<p>An email submission, a free signup, a software download, a simple form submission, trials, gifts, free app installs, etc.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"how-to-choose-a-ppv-network\"><\/span>How to Choose a PPV Network<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>After you\u2019ve chosen an offer, you\u2019ll know what are the accepted traffic types, OS, operator, whether it accepts Wifi traffic, and so on.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve decided to promote a mobile offer from Mobidea, you must first check if the PPV network allows you to send mobile traffic.<\/p>\n<p>What would be the point of sending desktop traffic to a mobile offer?<\/p>\n<p>That would be wasted money.<\/p>\n<p>Then, if the offer only accepts a particular operating system or a specific mobile operator, you have to make sure that the network gives you enough options to filter the traffic based on these criteria.<\/p>\n<p>A good PPV network should give you a lot of targeting options.<\/p>\n<p>SelfAdvertiser is a PPV network that gives you many targeting options.<\/p>\n<p>When I create a traffic campaign, I can see two options:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Domain choices appear:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Run of network<\/li>\n<li>Keyword targeted<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cRun of network\u201d means that the network will send me all the available traffic, without targeting a particular keyword or domain.<\/p>\n<p>This option may be a good choice for a very general offer, but it\u2019s also a way of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/media-buying-budget-strategy\/\">spending your budget<\/a> very fast (usually with a low chance of seeing any conversions.)<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cRun of network\u201d can send you a high volume of traffic in a very short time.<\/p>\n<p>If you decide to go for this option, make sure your tracking software and landing page can handle all the traffic.<\/p>\n<p>I almost never use this option, but one of the advantages of the run of network is that you can get a lot of data fast.<\/p>\n<p>Still, to make a campaign profitable with this approach, you\u2019ll have to closely monitor your data and exclude a lot of traffic source IDs (I\u2019ll refer to this later).<\/p>\n<p>I wouldn&#8217;t advise you to start experimenting PPV with this method.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cKeyword targeted\u201d option enables you to receive more targeted traffic and only display your page to the people who are looking for a particular keyword.<\/p>\n<p>Whether I choose the \u201cDomain Redirect\u201d, or the \u201cPop\u201d alternative, I like to use the \u201cKeyword targeted\u201d option.<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s check the targeting options of SelfAdvertiser, one of the networks I\u2019ve used for several campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>A proper PPV advertising platform should have features that enable you to filter the traffic based on several fundamental criteria.<\/p>\n<p>Firstly, you should be able to filter the traffic based on user location.<\/p>\n<p><a that do not convert.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding this aspect, SelfAdvertiser gives you several features:<\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li>Block keywords and domains<\/li>\n<li>Blacklist Source IDs<\/li>\n<li>Global blacklist (blacklist source ids at the account level)<\/li>\n<li>ISPs Blacklist<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If the chosen ad network doesn\u2019t have at least an option that enables you to block the traffic based on the source ID, then it\u2019s not a good network.<\/p>\n<p>After you receive some traffic on your campaign, your tracking software should provide you some info about the traffic.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re tracking the traffic correctly, you should see the traffic volume received by each source, the number of conversions you had from a particular source, as well as other data.<\/p>\n<p>Once you notice that a source has sent you a decent volume of traffic, but you had no conversions, you can then block that ID from the options of the advertising platform.<\/p>\n<p><a promote CPA offers with PPV traffic, targeting the right audience is crucial.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike PPC, where you can only target particular keywords, PPV also allows you to target specific URLs.<\/p>\n<p>That means your pages will be seen by the target audience when they visit exactly those URLs.<\/p>\n<p>For instance, let\u2019s assume you promote an app for Android OS.<\/p>\n<p>If you add the URL of the Google Play Store to your list of targeted URLs, you have the power to place your ad in front of the people who access the Google Play Store and who are interested in an app for Android.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s very powerful.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"how-to-find-keywords-to-target\"><\/span>How to Find Keywords to Target<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>There are many paid and free software and online services that can help you to find a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/how-to-research-keywords-with-google-algorithms-in-mind\/\">list of keywords to target<\/a> for your PPV campaigns, such as <a class=\"thirstylink\" title=\"SEMrush 30 day Trial\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/recommends\/semrush-30-days-trial\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">SEMrush<\/a>\u00a0(30-days free trial).<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re just getting started, there\u2019s no need to pay for an expensive service.<\/p>\n<p>There are several excellent free keyword research tools that you can <a href=\"https:\/\/antreno.com\/free-tools-for-finding-long-tail-keywords\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">check<\/a> for this process.<\/p>\n<p>For this guide, I will only use a free tool called Google AdWords Keyword Planner.<\/p>\n<p>You can get access to the Keyword Planner once you have a Google AdWords account.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t already have an account, go for it.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s free.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have a Google AdWords account, you can access this tool <a href=\"https:\/\/adwords.google.com\/KeywordPlanner\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Start your keyword research by providing one or more keywords related to your offer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cdnwp.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/keyword-research.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"584\" height=\"748\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13108\" landing page, Keyword Planner will give you a list of related keywords.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t want to risk spending your money on unrelated keywords, I would advise you to go through this list manually and only keep the best key phrases.<\/p>\n<p>Otherwise, if you just want to block the keywords that don\u2019t perform well from your advertising network account, you can just add all the keywords to a list and copy them, or export the list as a .CSV file.<\/p>\n<p>After you\u2019ve gathered a decent list of keywords, just copy and paste them into the targeting option of your chosen ad network.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"how-to-find-urls-to-target\"><\/span>How to Find URLs to Target<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>As I\u2019ve already mentioned, PPV networks will also allow you to target specific URLs.<\/p>\n<p>For this task, you can use one of several paid services.<\/p>\n<p>However, I\u2019m going to tell you about a free method.<\/p>\n<p>You can easily find a list of sites and pages that may be a good fit for your offer with the help of search engines.<\/p>\n<p>More precisely, you can manually copy and paste every URL into a text file.<\/p>\n<p>That boring process would take you a long time, though.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, there\u2019s a quicker and easier method.<\/p>\n<p>If you use Google Chrome as your web browser, there\u2019s a free extension called <a href=\"https:\/\/chrome.google.com\/webstore\/detail\/linkclump\/lfpjkncokllnfokkgpkobnkbkmelfefj?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Linkclump<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t know if there\u2019s a good alternative for Firefox or IE.<\/p>\n<p>Install Linkclump and right-click on its icon.<\/p>\n<p>Go to \u201cOptions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Look for the \u201cActions\u201d section and click on \u201cEdit.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a keyboard and above the first result (in a blank space on the page), hit the left button of your mouse and keep it pressed until you scroll to the bottom of the page (if you\u2019ve chosen other controls from Linkclump\u2019s settings, make sure you use those.)<\/p>\n<p>If everything works correctly, you should see a selection line.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cdnwp.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/serps.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"695\" height=\"751\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-13111\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/serps.jpg\" alt=\"serps\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/serps.jpg 695w, in an easily-accessible location of your PC.<\/p>\n<p>You can use any text editor for that.<\/p>\n<p>I like to use <a href=\"https:\/\/notepad-plus-plus.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Notepad++<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Click ctrl+V (on Windows) or cmd+V (on Mac), or right-click and select the \u201cPaste\u201d option to paste all the copied URLs.<\/p>\n<p>Now, you should have 100 URLs that you can target with your PPV campaign.<\/p>\n<p>You can repeat the search as many times as you want and for any keywords you want.<\/p>\n<p>You can also use Bing, Yahoo, YouTube, Amazon, eBay, etc. instead of Google Search.<\/p>\n<p>There\u2019s only one thing left to do before you can paste the list of URLs to the targeting option of your PPV network.<\/p>\n<p>At this stage, all the collected URLs will include the &#8220;http:\/\/&#8221; and the &#8220;https:\/\/&#8221; protocol before the domain name.<\/p>\n<p>You have to remove these for your targeting to work.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t worry:<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t have to do this manually.<\/p>\n<p>With your text file opened, press CTRL+H (for Windows OS).<\/p>\n<p>A &#8220;Find and replace&#8221; window should show up.<\/p>\n<p>If your current text editor doesn\u2019t have that option, I recommend you install Notepad++.<\/p>\n<p>In the \u201cFind what\u201d option, write &#8220;http:\/\/&#8221; and sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Click on \u201cReplace all\u201d to remove all the &#8220;http:\/\/&#8221; protocols.<\/p>\n<p>Repeat the operation, but now replace all the https:\/\/ occurrences from the URLs.<\/p>\n<p>Now, you can select all the URLs by pressing CTRL+A (on Windows), or go to Edit-&gt; Select All menu.<\/p>\n<p>Once all the URLs are selected, press CTRL+C, or right-mouse-click and the \u201cCopy\u201d option.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, paste (CTRL+V) all the copied URLs to the targeting option of the PPV network.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s how you can find URLs to target with your PPV campaign without having to pay for a software.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"running-the-campaign\"><\/span>Running the Campaign<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>After you have set up all the keywords and URLs you want to target, it\u2019s time to run the campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Check whether or not all the targeting options are correctly set.<\/p>\n<p>Then, match with the allowed promotion methods of your chosen CPA offer.<\/p>\n<p>Save the campaign and wait for it to be validated by your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/what-is-an-ad-network\/\">ad network<\/a> (if your network requires a manual validation.)<\/p>\n<p>After your campaign is approved, let it run until you have enough data to analyze for your tracking software.<\/p>\n<p>If your targeting is very specific and you\u2019re lucky enough to find several good traffic sources, you might even see some conversions.<\/p>\n<p>However, with PPV traffic, it\u2019s not likely that you\u2019ll be able to see conversions right from the start, without first having to perform some tweaks to your campaign based on the data collected.<\/p>\n<p>Once you have enough traffic data, you can then start to block the source IDs and keywords that do not convert for you, based on the information provided by your tracking software.<\/p>\n<p>The secret to make PPV campaigns profitable is to constantly tweak your campaigns until you start to see good results.<\/p>\n<p>If your offer accepts a customized creative, you might want to do an A\/B test with different landing pages, different headlines, and so forth.<\/p>\n<p>If your offer allows you to, you should go ahead and be as creative as you possibly can.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of your efforts, some offers and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mobidea.com\/academy\/best-affiliate-marketing-verticals\/\">verticals<\/a> will work better than others.<\/p>\n<p>You might even see different results on different PPV networks.<\/p>\n<p>If you can\u2019t seem to make your campaigns profitable after some time, you may want to kill the campaign and try another
